6th generation Diesel, any chance?

I literally got hit by a truck in my 4th gen 4runner. My God talk about a steel cage. He used me as a battering ram to destroy everything around me. Just amazing how structurally sound that vehicle is.

With 168000 on it I did start saving for my next vehicle and started looking at the SUV segment and gas mileage is becoming an issue in the segment, with BMW, Mercedes and Porsche having diesel offerings.

Any thoughts on whether Toyota would follow suit? I'm thinking it would be as a response to stay competitive with the Lexus GX in the luxury segment and maybe they'll offer it in the 4 runner as well?

VW TDI jetta had high reviews.
but i think it mainly has to do with obamas emission standards and the EPA raising the bar in 2016.

In all honesty as far as the GX goes it was long overdue. I mean honestly you rarely see a GX on the beaten path. I see more Lancruisers and LX470s than GXs off roading... Hope the runner doesn't follow suit though considering right now they share so much...
