Hi, I just bought a T4R 2006 limited. I have a few questions

1. Why does my t4r rise and lower. Its cool but what's the point? How do I use it?
2. What's DAC incline control and when do I use it?
3. How do I set my seat controls?
4. How to I use the outlet in the console? What's the other plug in there for?
5. TRhere's a smell coming out of the two middle front heaters and only them. What can that be? and why only them?
6. Is the back middle seat a booster seat?
7. What's the dual control and auto control on the heater?

1. Why does my t4r rise and lower. Its cool but what's the point? How do I use it? It is cool especially if you trailer or have a big load in the 4Runner. It allows you to compensate for a load.
2. What's DAC incline control and when do I use it? It stands for downhill assist control or something like that... It only works in 4lo. It's for going down steep hills offroad. It controls the speed by automatically applying brakes.
3. How do I set my seat controls? I don't have memory seats.
4. How to I use the outlet in the console? What's the other plug in there for? Turn on the 115v switch to the left of the steering wheel. Plug in a laptop or cellphone charger or whatever when the engine is running. Don't exceed 100w.
5. TRhere's a smell coming out of the two middle front heaters and only them. What can that be? and why only them? Don't know. Try changing the cabin air filter.
6. Is the back middle seat a booster seat? It's an armrest.
7. What's the dual control and auto control on the heater? It allows the driver and passenger to have different temperatures.

1. Mine doesn't have it, but you can adjust the height or turn off the auto height adjustment from the center console switches (between the seat heater controls).
2. In 4L, when the DAC button is pressed, take your feet off the gas and brake pedal. It's cruise control for off-roading going down hill between 2-5mph, the 4Runner will do the braking for you, all you have to do is steer.
3. Adjust the seat to your preferred seating position. The key needs to turned to 'On' and transmission in 'Park'. Hold the 'Set' button and press '1' or '2' depending which button you want to use. After your seat setting has been changed (key in 'On' and transmission in 'P') press either '1' or '2' to have the seat memory restored. Mirror position is not stored (it's not a Lexus : ).
4. As CJ mentioned for the power plug. The other is the auxiliary audio jack. A 3.5mm stereo mini-plug plugs into the jack to provide an external audio source such as MP3 players, portable satellite radio receivers, etc.
5. I would try setting the climate control outlets to those vents and shut off the side vents by window with the fan on the highest setting to see if there's some thing stuck in the ducts.
6. Armrest, there's a pop out tray and cup holder on the forward edge when it's lowered.
7. Auto is a "set it and forget it" setting. Set the temperature you want and press 'Auto', the climate control will select the appropriate outlets and fan speed. I don't use Auto much because I find myself needing to feedle with it more than I should. Dual allows the driver and passenger to set their own desired temperatures. Pressing the temp adjustment for the passenger will also activate dual zone temperature.

Turning it off with the console switch will disable for low speed use or for hitching trailer etc. It will automatically turn back on and adjust to level when you go above a certain speed, I believe around 20mph.

Correct, I don't think the 4Runner can stay in the "low" position once it goes above a certain speed.

Yeah Mike, I did. It tells me i can raise and lower my truck...but why?

Do you guys have XM radio? I think mine may be hooked up wrong. It should be hooked up straight to the stereo right? Not playing on a radio channel...

Being able to raise and lower the rear is useful in many situations ie;

raise- to cross deep water, offroad in deep ruts or over rocks etc....

lower- to hitch up trailer or load heavy objects in back etc....

or just because we like electronic gadgets!
