70% of Protesters in Charlotte

What I realized is that no matter whether a use-of-force situation is justified or not, whether protesters/rioters are correct or not, it is that there are some blacks in this county that FEEL the way they do about law enforcement. The facts are mostly irrelevant when it comes to emotions. So the question is, what really is the causation for some blacks feeling the way they do, and how do communities and law enforcement reach out and make changes that will have a positive affect on those perceptions?

The question is correct. Glad to see it finally posted.

The reasons the relationship is so broken are:

* Systemic poverty affecting millions of Americans, something Obama has made little to zero progress solving and neither Obama or Hillary talk about at all. The only people I've heard using about it on the left are Tavis Smiley and the Princeton professor.

* Combined with UnEqual Schools (anyone who doesn't believe this needs their head examined)

* Lack of factory work / blue collar jobs

* Execution of The War on Drugs and the fact that liberals help enact these laws, Obama supports them even now AND they have broad broad support from Black churches and community leaders.

* Social media and the rise of the PC police falsely blaming "White Supremecy nation" (according to the protestors themselves) as a default answer for every woe in society.

The most ironic thing is that liberals are just as adverse to admitting these problems exist (and their hand in maintaining the status quo) as conservatives are to enacting legislation with the goal of fixing these things.


I'm sure there are a few self identifying liberals here who disagree that they are responsible but they are wrong. The truth is in every liberal city where the police interact with the public, those police are following the laws put in place by liberals themselves. New York City - Stop and Frisk. Chicago ... Liberals. Los Angeles ... Liberals. Boston ... Liberals.

I'll add that my comments aren't meant to say that conservative policies have nothing to do with how we got here, just that liberals need to stop lying to themselves about their (ongoing) part in maintaining the status quo.

I find it humorous when affluent upper middle class folks (and I know many) openly blame the police, call them thugs, say they are racist towards people of color, yet these same folks live in nice little neighborhoods in the suburbs, never visit any of the bad neighborhoods, wouldn't EVER raise kids in a high crime neighborhood, wouldn't open a business there and wouldn't approve of their daughter dating someone from the street life.

Yet these same folks support protestors who call the police pigs anytime a shooting occurs. These same folks always talk about the problems with police and people of color in a way that solely put the blame on police without looking at the facts.

Ferguson is a perfect example. Michael Brown committed strong arm robbery and was identified by the LEO and stopped. Should the LEO have just not stopped him? Should strong arm robbery just be overlooked? I wonder what would happen if someone from the suburbs suffered strong arm robbery for their laptop outside a Starbucks and was told by the police that it is no longer a crime? They would lose their damn mind. Of course they would and that is the reason there laws exist and LEOs enforce them.

Obama had whole armies of volunteers during both of his elections.

About the only time these people work is when it's time to get others to vote for their handouts. Other than that, they're enjoying everyone else's hard work, doing nothing and will do anything for short periods to ensure that we keep funding their lifestyle.

- Kaepernick kneels during the national anthem is dumb. USA is the greatest country to live. The police shootings do not represent the view of this country.
- ALL lives matter
- You blamed racism because you are racist
- I got pulled over many times. I never got "disrespected" by a police. Not even once
- I got pulled over for racial profiling (I assumed) but I obeyed to the police. Nothing happened to me. I politely talked to him and he let me go.
- None of these violence would happened if everyone obeyed the law

I agree with you mostly. But yelling racist is not necessarily correct. Many of his volunteers were white collage kids that like the thought of a non white president appealed to.

I didn't get in to the UW but my high school buddy that was black did. I had a slight edge on academic and extra circular activities. He got in because he was black. His words. Is he racist no he is stating the obvious.

I was working in downtown Tacoma and Fife during both his elections at casinos cleaning aquariums. I saw the Obama election volunteers first had using their EBT cards to make withdrawals at the atm to gamble with. After both elections they would be talking with everybody there about how great the election was and how their hard work payed off. But they remained on government support and didn't seem interested in getting a job. The security guards used to confirm what they were saying and I was seeing . The security guards knew all the regulars and they all liked talking to me.

I have been pulled over for a bs reason and stood up for my 4th amendment rights. The cop let me go but I got pulled over daily, never written a ticket, until I stood for myself and told the cop either write me a ticket or leave me alone. He probably figured out that I realized if I had evidence of the bs stops then it would affect him. But I respect the hell out of the police. They have one of the toughest civilian jobs period. I can deal with BS all day long and not get violent. I went on a few ride alongs because they used to watch me take shit working at a pool hall in north Seattle/shoreline. After 2 ride alongs I realized I couldn't even do their jobs. They crap they take and lies they are told is crazy. But I have met a few less than stellar officers. That being said I would take a fully corrupt police force before I took no police force.

To me and many others working in bad neighborhoods it appeared that many of obama's voting organizers in Tacoma and fife did what they could to keep the gravy train rolling. I am not racist I am a realist. That's just the reality of the situation. I get called racist all the time because I don't like Obama. And I don't like the current Muslim immigration issue. Muslim isn't even a race, it's a religion, but that never stopped the leftist in Seattle and the eastside from calling me a racist.

I would love to see them go park their Merc down at the Tacoma mall and not do a double take at the first black man they pass that is walking in the direction of their car. Is that racist?

My comment was on George Soros funding the bussing in protestors to cause problems and lazy people with nothing to do accepting the money to fight for their welfare handouts. (hint: lazy, welfare rat is NOT a race) These people came from somewhere out of town; find a better explanation on where these people came from (on the same bus) and I'm all ears.

Oh good. I was really confused as to where I had broght race into any equation. I grew up where people are people, never really thought about race until this stupid election where the left race bait everything.

And yes, A few days ago I read that in reality many of those out of staters were not out of state after all. I went with the reality at the time, the one that the news media fed us. My bad.

Since you are so on top of this why don't you give us an update on the situation, like how the wife had in the past filed a restraining order against him for having an unregistered gun and hitting her and the kids? No reason to get killed in itself but history is an important part of the equation...

If you actually followed the thread from the beginning the mod started a thread based on what was reported to be fact. By you same logic shouldn't BLM and all that support them be banned from
Protesting as they are holding up signs under false pretense. "Hands up don't shoot" "just a gentle giant" "he was holding a book". The list goes on. Should the op be made to check for facts on the threads they start daily to make sure nothing has changed. If that's the case many many op's need to get banned.
