7500# hitch from SuspensionConnection.com

I just got my new V6 SR5 4Runner last week. So it was time to order parts. Its a work vehicle so I didn't have any choices in options. I really wanted to put the V8 hitch on there for mulitple reasons. I couldn't find the Hidden Hitch 70411 anywhere so I ended up ordering the unit from SuspensionConnection.com.

The build quality is good, but they could of cleaned up the slag a little bit better. All and all I am happy for $120 for the 7500# unit.

If someone has the 70411, could you let me know if it looks the same as this unit.

Good to hear. I figured I was good to go when I opened the box and saw that it mounted to the frame. I was just glad to know that there is another option now that the 70411 isn't available.

I'm still baffled as to how thebionicman modified the mount for the 7-pin adapter and no one replied to the inquiry. If anyone figures it out, please be kind and post pictures for those who will come behind you, eh? Isn't that the whole point of posting? To share knowledge?

I ended up taking the mount off altogether and there was just enough length in the adapter's wiring to allow it to be brought "forward" to the hitch. It certainly isn't going to slip out of this position (see below) and doesn't seem to move/migrate.

Helpful hint: bring the 7-pin adapter "forward" before you lift the hitch. There is not enough room between the hitch and the frame/body when the hitch is in place and bolted to squeeze it through. The adapter's plastic casing size/shape does not allow it. Having a second set of hands available is handy for just this reason.

You can also see how the tow loop was reattached.

No bumper fascia cutting required although the hitch comes right up against it. I guess if you are worried about paint rub you could put some sponge or felt or 3M or whatever between the two. I didn't think of it at the time of installation and wish I had. Personally, though, it was such a PITA to loosen/tighten the bolts that I don't think I will do so again just to place some protective barrier material.

And I agree about the slag. A little disappointing Quality S. wouldn't care about the consumer perception it creates - a lack of pride/interest in their products craftsmanship.
