A guy at the local oil change place told me that the best gear lube for my vehicle would be synthetic 75W-140. He said it it is the best for towing apps, which I do a lot. However, I believe that Toyota calls for SAE 90 for the rear diff and 75W-90 for the front diff and xfer case.
Would appreciate any comments from the more knowledgeable regarding any benefits or drawbacks of using a 75W-140 in a 4Runner. Is it safe? If so, is there really much of a difference in terms of wear properties? Thanks in advance.
