I'm thinking about upgrading to an 8.2 rear axle out of a 2010+ 4runner. Is the gear ratio the same? Are the both 3.73?

The gear ratio is 3.73 in 5th gen 8.2.

You can also swap in GX470 and FJCruiser axles that have the larger rear diff. I believe the only gear ratio that differs is the manual transmission FJC.

The VIN off the donor vehicle will tell you the gear ratio if you have it.
