8" Limited Rims vs. Sport

I've done a lot of research, but still need advice. I'm going to buy either a 2006 Limited or Sport. After I deck out the Sport, the price point won't be that significant for the extras I get by buying the Limited in the first place.

But I don't know much about the differences in rim sizes. I've heard 18" (std. 2006 Lim) dramatically reduces your tire choices. Would someone who knows tires comment on the following:

1. Will I find a great tire a I like for an 18" rim? 85% city driving, 15% off road?

2. Differences between the two in road noise, ride comfort, cost t replace, etc.?

3. Would you strongly prefer a Sport for this reason?

You'll definitely have fewer choices if you want to do some off-roading. A quick search on Tirerack for the 265/60/18 doesn't turn up the regular guys like BFG A/T or Bridgstone Revo's. Almost all of the ones listed are highway/all-season tires. You could always get the Limited and trade with someone for the 17" wheels off a Sport. I'm sure someone would want 18"s that never goes off-road.

What are the difference in options?

Wheels are easy to change, factory options are not.

You can always by a used set of 17" 4Runner rims to put on a limited. I've seen a few for sale on the board.

See if the dealer will swap the Limited rims with another vehicle in stock, or order a set and trade you for the limited rims.

Don't base your choice on wheel size. You get a lot of other features with the Limited. Go to the Toyota web site and check out what extras you get in the Limited model.
