80,000 miles almost

I had my oil changed and the sales rep was pushing oil formulated for high mileage engines that have more than 75,000 miles

I have 78,600 miles on my 06 V8. My thoughts are if I have changed my oil every 3,000 miles with semi-synthetic, then I should continue to use the oil I have been using as long as I keep up the good maintenance track that I have been doing. The engine does not consume or leak any oil between changes

I could be wrong but my opinion on oil formulated for high mileage engines is that this product is really for engines that have not received the best maintainance and the oil is putting a band aid on things like excessive worn valve guides that cause smoking.

marketing hype. Keep using a quality oil and changing it regularly and all will be fine.

If you can get that high mileage stuff at a better price then go for it, otherwise it's just a way to get you to spend more money for extremely similar lubrication.

your gut instinct served you well here.
