81 pick up

Hey guys some of.you know my rear frame is going out and I've been looking around and a Guy just posted on Craigslist 81 4x4 500$ no title ill link later

Question is is the frame any way close to mine?

I have no.problem Modding.body slightly to fit but if its more that 6 inches off I don't want to try

I have heard that the rear of the frame is where most of the difference is for the body mounts due to the pickup bed. Why can't you just fix the frame you have? Get some 3/16" plate and cut it to size and then weld it to your current frame.

I could but I'm worried that I fix one part then soon another part has issue and also I'd have a solid axle

If you think that between the parts and weight in steel that you can get your money back then I would but it for the axle (as long as it's straight) and to try and fit the frame.

Well the body of the pick up isn't to bad so plan maybe if they are close
Swap 4runner to.solid axle frame fix frame enough to throw pick up body on bad frame make a flat bed beatee

I put a 2nd gen (84) 2wd cab and bed on my 1st gen (83) 4wd truck frame, so it's close to what you want to do.
The width of the frames is a bit different, and of course the body mounts from the cab back are different between a runner and a pickup.
The front mounts either side of the radiator are offset, so some kind of adapter needs to be fabbed. The front inside cab mounts line up, but the mounts inside the rear of the cab are off a bit, but can be egged out to work.
Behind that the mounts for the truck and the runner are different, and you'd have to move or fab and weld on new ones to the frame to match the 4runner body.

the frames are not the same the pick up in 81 was narrow
buy the pick up and ill trade you for the snow camp - the lift and extras

no they are not the same .. and not interchangeable with out MAJOR modifications ..
