84 4runner rear window crooked

The rear window on my '84 4Runner has slipped off its track or had a support bracket broken. It is angled at about 10

I just checked mine ('86) and the window functions with the tailgate down. Not sure if all tailgate windows do that or if mine just has a bad sensor.

Yes You can fool the door to operate with the latch down. Just close the latches on each side on the locking mechanism. Use a screwdriver or something similar to close the mechanism on both sides, the motor and mechanism will then operat with the rear door open.

Thanks for the responses. I've examined the window mechanism closer and it appears that the gears may have slipped. Here is a picture of the gear mechanism. It looks as though the ends of the gears do not match up. Perhaps for some strange reason, they are misaligned. It appears that there is nothing broken and the window is sitting properly on the metal doohickies. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to disassemble the power window mechanism and realign the gears? Has anyone looked at the mechanism before and can tell me if the gears are truly misaligned?

Well, in absence of any more responses, I went ahead and completely disassembled the rear window assembly. Indeed, the gears had somehow become misaligned. If you remove the entire power window assembly and then remove the electric motor, the loaded spring will shoot out and nearly take out your eye. Before removing the motor, note the position of the spring so that you can reload it correctly. Once the spring has shot across the room you can examine the gears and see that there are alignment markings so that the lift arms are aligned. Mine had slipped two teeth. The tough thing is to reload the spring. If you have 3 arms or a buddy, this will be much easier. If you rotate the arms about 270
