I drive a 2.4D Four Runner. I am writing this is to warn of a potential problem that I discovered while I was on my honeymoon in Tasmania you know, that little island south of Oz.
I discovered (the hard way) that the spline in the centre of the oil pump gear is very fine and over a period of time, slowly wears away. This results in the pump stopping which very quickly destroys the bearings in the engine. This all happens without the drivers
