IMO - the top PRO is original paint & super clean-pinch welded sheet metal (like in post #37, rear photo)...this alone determines premium resale value.
- an iconic classic Gen1...very rare today, in Northern Climate
- 4x4 SUV turns into a convertible truck...extra cool factor
- I'm not a fan of 32" wheels or the rear custom bumper
- for a MI vehicle, that undercarriage and frame is real clean...++
^^ 1.5 years ago, I purchased a mint original paint/rust free 2000 SR5 4x4 auto, out of the ON. Canada rust belt.
- I couldn't find another one this clean up here, if I looked for the next decade
- I purchased it as soon as my garage friend, drove it back from the dealer-2-dealer auction / from Lexus-Toyota dealership
- my car buddy, could have sold it every week, just sitting on his used car lot...awaiting the safety check work
- plan on keeping it forever / and at my age, another 15-20 years hopefully
- but it does have air bags, PW, PDL, AC, CC, etc...enough safety & creature comforts, so sought after a Gen3
- just wax-oil spray undercoat it, every fall & enjoy the DD'er
In OP's case - your in no hurry to sell...so ask $10K, but you will likely regret it...really depends, what you replace it with.
- even ask your sons opinion, maybe he would like the '85 someday & cherish it (for many years to come)
- when I write an ad, I usually post a door bottom pic. to showcase the exceptional/original condition...no swelling of lower seam, so zero cancer or rust.
