86 Runs Terrible

Hello- I am new to the forum and new to owning a 4runner. I need some help or at least some suggestions. It is an 86 with a 22re and auto trans. The eninge idles like a sewing machine but the second you depress the accelerator it seems like it is only hitting on 2 cylinders. The harder you hit the gas the slower it wants to run. I have replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Also replaced the filters. If lucky I can get it to 55 within a few miles but it is a struggle and forget making it up a hill. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

check the timing first, could be as simple as adjusting the distributor. It may be time for a timing belt and tensioner. Is there any maintenance records of what was done before you bought it? Its possible that its fuel related too. You said you replaced filters. Did that include the fuel filter?
