87 4Runner Tires question

My 87 is stock, would 235/75/15 fit on stock rims for this year without rubbing anything ? what would be the biggest tire I could put on ? Thanks for the help guys.

i am currently running 235/75/15 tires, and have absolutly no rubbing. i actually found out that they come from the factories with 225's. but 235/75/15 is the general norm in stock suv tire sizes. i am temping to go 31/10.5/15 on stock body with no lift, and hoping/expecting minimal rubbing. the future plan is to go 35/15/15 (with lift of course...) well i hope this helps.

Thanks bro, I was also contemplating 31/10.50/15... Anyone out there with stock lift on stock rims have any rubbing ? if so when does it rub ? hitting the top when 4x4ing? when turning ?

my 4 runner has 31s on it with no rubbing at all and they are on the stock rims, its an 88 thou. That and i had a 1990 and it also had 31s on it with no rubbing

Judging from your avitar, I think you might have some trouble in the rear with 10.50x31-15 tires. You might not but it looks a bit saggy. I'm sure you could get away with 9.50x30-15.

Put an OME lift kit underneath and you won't have any trouble with 31" or 33" tires (although for 33" you might loose a lot of power unless you regear).

Not a big fan of body lifts...

OME lift has worked very well. Let me know if you want any info on where to buy, what's entailed, etc.

Hey Bama share the secret... I just want to really keep my runner as is, not going into any lifts just wanna fix the sag.
Josh, my runner is a 4cyl. so yeah kinda slow but theres alot of weight behind it. My mechanic said that I shouldnt push the truck just ease it up . 0-60 in 1.5 minutes,lol.

There are lots of places to buy Old Man Emu suspensions. I ordered mine from 4x4 connection. I have the straight front axle ('85 model). I think you would need this kit:

Not exactly cheap but very much a top of the line suspension.

It is fairly widely understood that you can run 33x10.50 with no rubbing, (BFG's may be your only option for this size)

I run 34x9.50 with only the slightest rubbing on the pinch weld, so I flattened it.

I'm sure you could get away with 9.50x30-15.

While we're talking tires.....

I'm soon to be putting on some 9.50x30-15's. I'll be getting some basic rims for them. Regular black wagon wheels but with 7" width to take the new tires better. I'm reading the threads thinking I might want to go to 10.50 as long as I'm changing rims.

I'm wondering now, what is the stock rim size for my '87? I figured 4 and a half wide.
