88 4runner grinding sound

yot

I just bought a 88, automatic 3vz and well its got 182,000 on the engine and everything else. It was sitting for a year before I bought it. I changed oil, timing belt, water pump, atf, and is has been running good. It shifts fine, but it started making a light grinding sound that comes straight from underneath the shifter and can be felt when you touch it. Does so mostly when in low speed, round 20mph, and I accelerate. Dont know too much about the automatic trannys or what can this be coming from, as the car uns fine, but its my new toy and want to know what going on with it? Thanks

is it 4x4 or 2x4? could it be locked in and you feeling that? is it getting stick warm or hot

im just guessing but maybe from sitting so long , could it be torque converter rubbing

or maybe something has crawled up in there and built a nest

sitting too long is tough on machines and humans both

Its 4x4, and yes it does get a little hot. The hub caps are free, and its in H2, but it definitely is coming from directly beneath the shifter. Could it be the transfer case> Or the transmission. Should I just give it some time and see how it plays out? Thanks
