89 3.0 sparkless

o.k. first post, 89 3.0 no spark from the coil. new coil, ordered an igniter to be installed. problem is that i am not getting fuel either. am i barking up the wrong tree? i have read that the air flow meter can keep the fuel pump from switching on, but would it not send a spark either? i am kind of hoping that the igniter works in the same way and is just keeping the ecu or relays from operating the fuel pump while there is no spark? anyone?

oh, and does an 89 V6 have a crank angle sensor? and would that do the same thing?

Just for the record... no crank angle sensor. and yes, the igniter will also inhibit a signal to the fuel pump relay when it has gone bad...
