'89 T4R Needs a Good Home $750

Got a friend who is moving in a week and needs to sell her '89 T4R SR5 as soon as possible so it doesnt go to the junk yard. She wants to see it go to someone who cares and not to the junk yard. She's askin $750 for it, which is what the junk yard is offering her.

The truck is wrecked and does not run, but is actually in really good shape. Collision was to the front bumber and front passenger quarter panel, needs to be replaced or pounded out and painted. 22re needs a full rebuild or replaced. Has new clutch and rebuilt 5-speed transmission. New tires, auto lockin hubs, power window, altimeter display, sunroof, red interior and grey exterior. This would be a great project or parts car for someone.

Not trying to be rude, but if she was offered 750 bucks for a truck that was in a wreck plus it needs a rebuilt motor. I think that is more than a fair offer, she should sell it before they change there mind. I wouldn't give her 200 dollars for it, but thats just me. I don't understand how a wrecked truck, needing a motor could be in "really good shape" Tell her to sell it fast!!

$300 for the master rebuild kit for the 22RE, $500 or less for body work or replacement panels and paint. (Granted that's doing all work yourself) That would be $1,550 total for a '89 T4R. Sounds pretty decent to me... Like I said good project or parts truck.

If a person runs an 89 Runner and is in that area, $750 is probably a great deal for a parts car. The junk yard is probably going to sell it piece by piece for more than that. If I had a garage I'd be snapping up '01s that were in crashes just for parts.

Everything is more expensive in Calif, or so it seems. I gave $1,500 for a 1988 4Runner with a bad engine. I took a gamble and paid $600 for a used 22RE and lucked out.

It was worth it to me and what anyone else thinks of the deal isn't any of my business, nor do I care. I enjoy driving this "new" 4runner to work every day and don't plan on parting with it any time soon.

I would pay $750 for that in a second,around here buying one that has been hit and had no rust,with a bad engine your looking at at least a $1000.
That is if you could find one that had never been driven in the winter and had no rust,don't let a good one get crushed.
