so heres the deal. previous radio was jerry rigged and Im putting a new one in. so far I've figured out all the wire codes
blue/yellow 12v constant on
brown ground
pink/purple speakers
blue/light green speakers
gray 12v acc switch
there is a dark green wire, which I think is illumination and a red and black wire that has a seperate connector(dimmer?). either one was hooked up to the previous install. the wire harness that came with the stereo doesnt have these on it.
my new stereo (sony CDX-GT120) has different colors, but I figured out which was which.
red acc
yellow 12v constant
2 blues for antenna (dont have a power antenna on this vehicle)
then 4 sets of wires for speakers.
i tried to hook it up to test it before doing the full install and nothing.
Ive got 12v at the blue/yellow constant, and 12v at the gray acc switch. attached ground to a frame bolt, plugged the harness to the stereo and no lights, nothing.
the only kicker i noticed was the gray wire has .66 volts with the switch off, and when I was moving things around, I got a little spark from the metal case on the stereo when it touched one of the brackets in the dash.
what the heck?? its only my second stereo install. obviously the 1st one went much better.
my guess is that maybe its a ground issue, but im no electronic genius.
any thoughts??????
