890 springs falling out

Has anyone ever had a rear spring come out on the trail? I’m running King shocks in the rear and just removed my swaybar. With the swaybar removed the shocks are the only limiting factor now. My passenger side spring has a lot less preload on it now when I have a jack stand under the frame and the axle hanging. I’m not using the rubber shock cones either, they would add about a quarter inch of length. The spring isn’t totally loose but I can get it to move a little bit.

Let me clarify, the springs haven’t fallen out, I’m asking if anyone has heard of them falling out

If I put my truck on a lift I can do the same. But it has never fallen out. If your worried you can install limit straps.

I had the same issue. I put the plastic gizmos (tubes) back in and used heavy duty tie wraps on the bottom of the spring. The tie wraps were just a temporary fix but they have been in there for 2 years now. I would have never thought they would have worked for a permanent fix but they did. my springs now stay in position.

Check your rear brake line, it is probably limiting your droop and might snap.

I used metal hose clamps to secure the lower part of the springs to the axle.

For the upper part of the spring I used an existing threaded hole near the spring seat and bolted a piece of flat bar to it. The flat bar clamped the last wrap of the spring to the frame.

If they aren't loose (able to fall out on their own) at full droop, they won't be loose while flexing. Since the shocks are outboard of the springs, when flexed the springs will be shorter than they are at full droop.

For sure, I installed extended lines a while back.

Very encouraging. I was worried I might get a few horror stories with people stuck in rocky sections trying to reinstall their spring.

I also had this with the king springs. They're too short and are designed for prados. You'll need a spring with a free length of 420mm or more. THis allows me to run the gabriel rears that are about 1" longer than stock.
The EFS springs were also not quite long enough and would clonk around but not come loose.
I currently run Dobinson C59-137V rear spring for a lift of about 2" or more.
