9/30 - VA Day Trip

Seeing a couple folks bringing up day trips in the area, anybody interested/free on Sunday 9/30? I figured we could hit one of the standards to open it up to folks that haven't been out - Flagpole, Dictum Ridge, Bald Mountain, etc. - maybe stop by Barrel Oak Winery after we're done since they a) allow pups b) are open later c) have good pizza and beer.

I'd tag some of the local folks that have expressed interest in the past since the Off-Roading forum is a bit of a black hole, but evidently I'm inept at it since the mention button doesn't seem to work for me.

I’ve done the flagpole, bald Mtn runs. But haven’t hit anything north of 33, like dictum or long run. Would like to check that out and see if there’s anything “interesting” there.

Hmmm, That could be fun. If anyone is interested in a little wheeling, camping AND shooting... A trip out to Sleepy Creek would be fun (once the trails open back up). Wheel/camp Sat and go shooting at Peacemaker Sunday (mile or 2 down the road).

The gate blocking access on the Rt 33 side had been torn down our last trip out that way and the residents on that road were pissed according to local lore.

That being said it is a fairly short, but decent place to get your wheels off pavement for a bit.

Long Run is a pretty drive too.

Check out German River Rd, which begins not too far from the West side of Long Run Rd. It looks pretty promising, but we have only been a short ways down it.

Ya, my thought would be to go up Long Run Rd, then down to Second Mountain Trail, hang down to Dictum Ridge, then maybe hang down the rest of Second Mountain or up Gauley Ridge depending on the time.

[MENTION=103627]svana[/MENTION], unfortunately I'm going to have to bow out of this trip. I just put in a new suspension and don't have time to get an alignment done until early next week. :sad:
