Well, yesterday my T4R had the timing belt, drive belts, water pump, and thermostat replaced. Woo Hoo!. Total cost with tax was $691.

yikes....I did mine last week (3.0L V6) for $114 my time and labor

Same exact stuff...my water pump went so I just replaced the same stuff while I had it tore down.

Why do things go up in the winter seems like every winter I am in the garage replacing something on my truck

dropped off my truck this morning at a reputable local shop. timing belt, water pump, drive belts, and flush/refill of radiator for 500 even.... =)

stealership was asking 660 + tax and stuff... local shop is using toyota parts too.

oh... and i'm at 107k. figured it was finally time.

Something has been said on here that not all shops can torque the nut for the tesioner or something. Torque needs to be something like 217ft.lbs.

i just called a couple shops in seattle - greg's japanese auto and a couple of the toyota dealerships - and they quoted me $1400 out the door for a new timing belt, water pump, crank seal, plugs, cap, and fluids. that sounds a little steep to me.

anyone have any suggestions for reputable shops in or around the seattle area?

rotor cap i assume? i am new to toyotas. always had muscle cars growing up.

There is no rotor cap on the 4Runner. It is a direct coil ignition.
