90 4 runner with 22RE has a very high idle

when i fire her up now that its lower then -5, my average idle is 1500-2200. It barely goes does down. almost seems like something is keeping it higher. What should my engine idle speed be? when i go to shift into neutral, it stays the same. when i shift into reverse directly its super rough. if i go into drive then back into reverse it shifts better. In may i had my block changed so I am curious if something from that may have caused this now that its cold out. I am wondering if I should call the guy who did it once I get it on the road.

Also sometimes when i arrive at my destination, my idle starts to rev itself up and down about a 1000rmp. Wont stop until I stop the engine and do a restart. thanks

Had the same symptoms in my v6. Not sure how similar the 22re and the 3.0 are.

Check the coolant lines that run to and from the throttle body. pull the hoses from the engine and TB to see if anything has clogged the hoses, coolant inlet and outlet from the engine, and inlet and outlet on the Throttle body.
