Hi there,
The other day I was driving my 4runner and a coolant hose came off and the engine got kinda hot. It didn't overheat, it just got hot. Once I noticed it getting hot I pulled over, shut it off, and had it towed. So I replaced the thermostat, the water pump, and the timing belt. I have all of the timing marks set, and I'm 90 percent sure all of the hoses and connecters are connected correctly. When I finished and went to start it, its started to idle at aroun 2k to 2300. I tried adjusting the distrubutor and the throttle screw, but either didn't help or made it worse. I pulled the dipstick and the oil is clean, and there is a grayish film on the oil cap which is most likely moisture. I'm just stuck on weather its as serious as a blown head gasket, or I'm just missing something stupid. Any help will be much appreciated.
