90 4unner wonr pass emissions

az state law is 20 on the carbon monoxide and it tested 60 said it was running really rich anyone be able to tell me opr point me in the right direction to fix this please
and here is the readings

hc 1.70 (2.00 allowed)
co 60.78(20.00 allowed)
nox 3.60 (4.00 allowed)

everything else passed

v6 efi
new cat and muffler
they said it was running rich

so should i fix it or use the states one time get out of emissions card?

well wht motor is it cuz the 22 and v6 will be different

its the 3.0 v6 3VZ i belive

What was it running like mine did that and was running perfect we cheated the system run it completely out of gas or till the light come on the put half a tank of 92 in and run it hard for 20 minutes. Then sit in the a parking spot and hold the brakes and the gas in drive then go through the emissons and if that doesn't do it get a couple gallons of napfa paint thinner and do it with that if those to don't make it pass take the one time free pass

we do not have emissions testing here so i may be out of date for this but what about a small injector in one of the banks to make the engine run a little lean for the test?
I assume it would lower the amounts enough to pass?

Like if OEM is 600cc get a 450 or 500 cc injector just for the test.

i seafoamed it last night and my buddy said pour like a gallon of pure alcohol in the tank but yeah it runs perfect has the lifter tick ...whicjh i have to tack next i have an appt at toyota tomorrow for the free steering rod and head gasket replacement but thanks for u r repplies but i dont have the money or the tool sto work on this i was lied to when i bought it....so i guess my bad for trusting a dude with recipts

so anybody have any ideas cause she still didnt pass i had a few people say it was the tps sensor i traded a brand new one for a six pack ...i have no idea what direction to go ....it has new plugs,wires,airfilter,injectors,i have a lifter or valve tick it loud to me but its the first car i have ever owned that has had one.....should i get that adjusted as well?:gun6:

Fwiw, my friend with a 302 in his old '86 Bronco drives hard for one hour on the freeway with a gallon of 92% alcohol in his tank before he hits the Cali smog station. Says it's worked twice in a row........

i have also heard this and thanks i will spend the 30 bucks on a retest and get some alcohol and try it out

The key to this trick is to get the cat smokin' hot, and keep it hot whilst you're waiting in line at the smog station (or wetf you guys have out there)..........

what about nitro methane?
Could you run a 50% mix of 87 octane with nitro methane? you cat would stay hot at idle you just wouldnt want to beat on your engine with meth in it.

yeah and she told me while in line she would turn the truck off and only turn it on to move forward lol so i am gonna run it thru next time
