90 runner loud knocking

I've had this runner almost two years. Wasn't in good shape when I bought it, Isn't any better now. I just changed the oil and hours later I'm on my way home when my engine starts knocking. I kept driving for about 15 miles until i finally parked it, with the knocking even louder. It sounds like its coming from the bottom of my engine. I double checked and made sure everything as far as an oil change was tip-top and all seemed was in order except from underneath it looked like i sprung an oil leak. There was hardly any oil left on the dip stick. Im sure my only option is a new engine from what I hear when I start it up.

What engine transmission?

The 3.0s are known sludge builders. What kind of oil are you running?

Got a video or sound clip of the noise?

Find the source of the oil leak, and it will bring you closer to a solution. My guess is something sprang an oil leak, and if your run an engine with no oil, youre gonna have a bad day. I think you would notice if you threw a rod..

Good luck super trooper!

It's an automatic, been running with 5w-30.I don't think I've thrown a rod yet but the knocking is coming from the back of the bottom of my engine. When I was driving it I could really feel the knocking in the pedal when I would accelerate.

It could easily be a bolt in the torque converter. Either way, stop driving it unless you want a hole in your block.

Not that I'd know anything about that.
