91 3.0 auto transmission miles

I bought a '91 with a 3.0 V-6 and auto tranny about 7 months ago. It's got 140,000 miles on it, how long do the transmissions usually last before they go out?

From factory they usually go between 250,000 and 300,000 unless they have been abused. Many of the problems are electrical before that.

My mechanic said he has only seen a handful of 2nd gen autos end up being totally wrecked. Agreed with most problems being electrical. He said more often than not the solenoids cause problems, not the tranny itself.
