91 3VZE Camsprocket direction?

Is it possible, and does it make a difference if the camsprocket faces the wrong way?
I checked the FSM, and it appeared that the left sprocket should have the lip facing out, and the right sprocket should have the lip facing in. While putting back together I noticed that it didn't seem to make a difference whether the sprockets faced in or out on either side. And was curious since I checked many pics of the 3VZE that people have posted, and many seem to have it wrong.

IIRC on the 3.0 the sprockets will go either way, but you want one lip in and one lip out to help guide the belt properly.

Not stay on, get on. Easier to slip the belt onto the gears if there isn't a lip to go over.

Right now I have the lip facing out on the left head/lip facing back on the right. Only had a limited amount of time to mess with the belt as I was running out of daylight, but seems about right. Need at least one lip facing back just to get the stupid belt on. Putting the belt on(old style spring tensioner) seems pretty straight forward to me, I'll keep the fingers crossed and finish with the belt tonight. Wish me luck.

Well, got the belt on and lined up, took me all of about 10 minutes. Used the method described in this post on ToyotaNation. Gave it multiple spins, and its right on.

Can't tell you how easy it was using the method posted by this fellow. Thank you so much to him.

To get belt on easily, all he did was advance the right camgear a half tooth clockwise, and then turn the crank gear a half tooth counter clockwise. Then he had you put the belt over the two cam gears and the idler pulley, then line up the right hand gear with its mark, took the slack right out of the upper portion of the belt. Without moving the upper portion of the belt, he had you put the belt over the waterpump and crank gear, then over a loosened idler pulley, then had you line up crank gear with marks, took slack out of bottom portion of belt. At that point, you just had to put on tension spring and tighten idler pulley to finish. So unbelievably easy and efficient. After reading about so many people struggling with the belt, I am happy to have found the right article for help.
