driving few days ago and truck started to sputter as if running out of gas. I parked it, got gas. tried to start and couldn't. engine was cranking and trying to turn over but could not start. I push started it down hill and got it to start, but it ran very badly, like couple spark plugs missing. drove a couple blocks, no change.
Went thru Chilton w my buddy and tested everything we could with Volt/Ohmmeter, no other testing equip avail. He says the wire from Dist cap to ignition coil had no spark at coil end. my 4runner has an IGNITER screwed into the coil at the Driver sidewall. we can't figure out how to test igniter... and I priced that part at $319... I can't afford that right now, and wd hate to spend that a cpl wks from now then find it is NOT the problem.
fuel and fuel return sound like they're working. checking compression way too complex for me.

FOR sev months before this, when I fueled up, I would smell gas inside truck - really bad. progressively worse.
