91 Clutch Safety Switch

Hi, I've searched through multiple threads in regards to issues surrounding the clutch safety switch. What I'm not finding is what can be the final problem if your clutch safety switch tests fine, is adjusted correctly but still fails to crank. Vehicle starts perfectly while using the clutch cancel switch.

This is what I've done so far:

1. Tested clutch safety switch with multimeter for continuity. Tests perfectly by FSM procedure.

2. Temporarily replaced clutch safety switch and still fails to crank.

3. Temporarily replaced starter relays behind glove box and still fails to crank.

4. Engaged clutch safety switch by hand and still fails to crank.

5. Vehicle cranks and starts perfectly when clutch cancel switch is engaged.

I looked at the starter and there doesn't appear to be any loose wires. Vehicle has NO electrical modifications other than the vehicle alarm being disconnected under the ash tray. Reconnected and alarm works fine but still fails to crank when clutch is engaged.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I prefer not to rely on the clutch cancel switch for starting the vehicle.

Hi, time ago my 1988 4runner 5spd has the same issues
I solved, with a new (no OEM) just a 60A SPDT Relay for the starter relay, and now works fine

All the info, I ´ve read in some thread here.
In fact, the clutch safety swtich or the pedal depress siwtch it´s just for a GND for the (coil 85-86) starter relay, you could use a direct wire bolt in the inner fender for that realy and test it.

I would check the pedal switch as posted above. The clutch disengage switch is a bypass for the pedal switch. as posted above

I just wanted to do a follow up so it may help another member down the road. It ended up being a pulled wire on the vehicle side of the clutch safety switch. It was rather tough to see but was very easy to fix. In a nutshell, I guess I should have looked a little harder.
