92 4Runner code # 14 My sisters 4Runner

drive-ability

New member
Hello,
My younger sister has a 92 4Runner, 2 wheel drive auto with 180K miles. She has taken the truck to one shop over time and has had mixed success. Now we have a code 14, which involves the ignition system, internal distributor issues or an igniter and surely all related wiring.
Given the truck runs almost normal except for when its cold for a short time where it seem to stumble, and run rough, what in your experience, has normally been the fault??
I here the internal distributor parts are not serviceable ?

I have a long back-round with EFI and computer controls but with General Motors and as such I may understand most of the basic system but don't have the real life hands on you guys have, which in my opinion is the only thing that counts :D

UP Date!!!

I did take a look inside the distributor, as I removed the cap the rotor fell out, apparently the rotor attaching screws were not tightened down. I found the screws at the bottom of the distributor. Nothing like quality work !
One might surmise the screws may have bounced around in places which might damage the pickup. I didn't as yet see any damage but who knows.
What do you guys think about this?? :awais:

Thanks for ?

well the truck has been repaired, my sister spent 800 bucks trying to solve this problem at two shops. She had a code 14 and 71. Turns out to be just a problem in the wiring harness, an open connection. Since the truck is running perfect now without any help from this board I wont share the detailed diagnostic repair. No parts were replaced, just a little but connector and heat shrink material. :dancin:
