I have a '92 4-Runner. V-6 engine if that matters. I want a trailer hitch on it.
I looked at some hitches on some 4-Runners that were in the junk yard. I think I remember seeing that they were bolted to the SIDE of the frame.
I don't know if they were factory hitches or aftermarket.
I told them I wanted one. They said they would get one pulled. Several days later they called and said they had one ready. When I got there and looked at it, it looks like it is made to bolt onto the BOTTOM of the frame. They said it was one that they had gotten in from one of their other yards and not one that I had looked at. I didn't go back out and look at the hitches that I had looked at before.
I don't see how this one will work with my vehicle. Is this the right hitch?
It looks like I have welded on (factory?) tow/tiedown brackets on the bottom of my frame that will be in the way of bolting anything long like that to the bottom. I don't see holes in sides of my frame that look easy to get a set of bolts into.
Am I missing something? Does this hitch slide inside the frame and bolt onto the bottom of the top of the frame? Are there holes ready for it up there?
Can I really put a hitch on this? Where does it bolt to?
Do I have to do some modifications?
I don't have much of a shop to be cutting and welding and grinding on stuff. I could if I have to but I really don't want to.
