93 3.0l high idle....not the usual

i have a 93 4runner that i bought back in the summer. It has 148,000 kilometers on it now and is ion great shape over all. Only issue is the idle, on cold days when i start the truck it revs at about 1000 rpm. What is odd is that as it warms up the idle climbs and settles about 1500 rpm when the truck is at operating temp. I have tried cleaning the throttle body and that didnt make any difference. Any help would be great.

The question might be what part of the throttle body did you clean?

One culprit for the high idle is the coolant line that runs through it. Make sure that is cleaned and flowing through it. Also make sure the lines coming into and out of it are flowing too. These lines are very small and lots of debris is starting to corrode off of these vehicles in the coolant lines.

It probably wouldn't hurt to chase all the vacuum lines down and make sure they're all routed to the correct place. 20 years of mechanics can get those things going everywhere.

i used a spray throttle body cleaner and just unhooked the hose from the air cleaner and cleaned the plate. I checked a lot of vacuum lines and didn't see anything out of place. I even unhooked them one by one and it never really changed much. From time to time the idle with surge back and forth but that will clear up if i shut it off and start it again.

Whats the best way to check it the coolant line are plugged at the throttle body?

i have checked vacuum line by tracing and looking for anything out of place, i also unhooked the lines one by one hoping one would cause a drop in the idle, no such luck.

i used throttle body cleaner and unhooked the hose form the air box and cleaned while still on the engine. it was fairly clean to be honest.

the idle will from time to time surge up and down (still high) but i can usually stop this by shutting off and restarting.

the throttle plate is closing all the way to the factory set stops and i havent touched that setting.

Other than pulling the tbody off how can i check if the coolant lines are clear. They are tough to even see.
