93 4runner head gasket/maintenance

Hey guys new to the forum just had a question. I just purchased a 93 4runmer 3.0 4x4 auto which has a bad head gasket. I'm about to tear the motor out tomorow morning I have a complete engine gasket kit so no worries there. My question to you is besides replacing all the fluids and putting in new plugs and wires and water pump and timing belt what else would you do? I was thinking of replacing the front and rear main seal too possibly all the major gaskets. Btw if theres a step by step website that shows how to remove the motor that will help too. Oh and the car has 180k miles. Thank you for your time

Check both your idler pully's make sure they are not makeing any ratcheting noises
Also check the distributor cap and rotor. Follow the top dead center adjustments to a tee its a pain in the ass. Also there is a cam gear pulley remover and I would recommend borrowing one.

You dont need to remove the motor to change the HG I didnt and mine went about 8k miles ago

thank you sir i was planning on doing the cap and rotor too. Why do i need a cam gear remover? cant i just loosen the timing belt tensioner and remove the belt?

Im pulling the engine because im going to replace both rear and front main seals and oil pan gasket. Im changing all the gaskets I do NOT want any leaks at all. I want this bad boy in top notch condition

heres just a update on the car motor was pulled out all new fluids all new gaskets including front and rear main oil pan gasket etc, new water pump and new timing belt.... i shoulda done a write up but no time with school. the motor is back in the car going to finish it sometime this week.

I am a new member to this forum but I've been using it as reference since my project on my 93 4runner v6 3.0.. turbo i want to say me and you are on the same boat but you are far better off than I am., i had a blown head gasket and f'd up more than i wanted to...after putting in all new major gaskets, and water pump, i am now left with the timing belt replacement and putting in the front cam oil seals..i jus dnt knw how to take that damn pulley off the cam tho..n e suggestions?

Heat and impact! or if you dont have an impact gun i had some luck with a screw driver and a breaker bar at the yard yesterday.

Get a big ass monkey wrench there's a part on the cams that you can put it on it's made just like you could use one start turning until it gets pressed against the side of the head. Then with a breaker bar break the cam gear bolt off
