'93 Tire Vibration

I am new here, and thus is my plea..

I own a 93 4runner 4x2, original owner. It was a very low mileage vehicle for a while until Jan 05. That month, the stock bridgestone duelers were replaced with Michelin X Radials ( from sams). And since then I can not exceed 55 mph without terrible vibration entering the cabin. I am fairly certain this vibration is coming from the tires.

* I am using stock tire pressures from the door jamb.

* A toyota dealership technicians said with regard to the vibration in my generation 4runner " they all do that eventually" - i call BS on this

* Tires have been rebalanced several times (by sams).

* Force Friction Balancing (?) has been suggested.



any help would be appreciated

It could be any number of things, but the 'they all do that' is not right, as my old '86 didn't until about 70-75 Mph.

My '87 does shake all the time, and my tires are very unevenly worn, which I'm, pretty sure is from needing an allignment. You might need to have an allignment.

About a year ago I started having shaking like that on my Jetta, and it turns out that one of the belts in one of my tires had shifted, so you could also have a bad tire.

Alignment

I agree with the_digman. If you haven't already done so I would recommend getting an alignment done.

i *believe* an alignment was done by the dealership when the steering parts were replaced under recall

We had the same issue with a set of Michelins we put on our 1990 4runner through Costco. Here's a few things we discovered:
-a number of these tires are 2nds or blems(through the wholesale clubs)
-the installers don't usually carry the proper centering device for balancing the tires. Hence, the tires are constantly off by alot, enough to give the truck vibrations through the cabin.
After numerous balancings, we put the worst on the rear. Costco would not honor their warranty or the tires. Its the last time we go there for tires. Here are a number of things that really reduced the vibrations and issues through the cabin:
-replaced the motor & trans mounts.
-installed urethane rear control arm and lateral arm bushings.
-a balancing done with hunter equipment with the proper centering device.
My guess is the Michelins just don't have the side wall structural integrity and are not nearly as stable without a decent suspension in place.

im considering going +4 psi on all tires and seeing how that affects things
