93 V6 Rough Idle

Okay, I was finally able to pull the codes. I got codes 12 (Knock Control Sensor signal or RPM Signal) and 25 (Air-Fuel Ratio Lean)

Going to look them up now but if anyone has had experience with these two codes, please chime in with thoughts!

ETA: I'm assuming this is what these codes mean. I got that info from a web search. Will double check with the FSM.

Air fuel ratio lean means you probably have a leak in your exhaust manifold or intake manifold somewhere

I have found a few possible meanings for the codes so I'm going to start with new plugs/wires and replace the O2 sensor. If that doesn't do it then I'll just save myself the headache and take it to a shop.

Stay tuned...

Sounds like a good option for a 3.4 swap if its not easy! Haha jk

In my 92 FSM is says error 12 is RPM Signal. Personally since error 25 could be set off by the RPM changing, I'd probably look at that RPM signal first.

In my manual this is page FI-111. Yours should be around there. That page included some trouble areas to look at.

BTW, the info on finding the diagnostic codes (for future reference) starts on page FI-107.

So some of the info I found on code 25 mentioned spark plugs. So I just replaced plugs 4-6 (1-3 will have to wait for the weekend). The plugs were definitely worn out.

I took it for a test drive and it "seems" to be running better. We'll see how it feels in the morning on the way to work.

It's also idling a bit higher now. Before it was hanging around 6-700. Now it's up around 1100.
