It will do well for what it is...a 4x4 truck. The newer SUVs come with 4-wheel traction control and/or locker(s). Your truck is very reliable, but it probably lags behind some of the newer body-on-frame trucks with traction control +/- locker(s).

I would add a rear locker to your rig. Then, you can easily keep up (and beat) many 4x4s out there. The nice thing about your truck is that it has nice clearances (ground, approach/departure). So, it does not take much to get it into off-roading shape! :)

Thank Thai,

I appritiate that,
I was hoping it would be good for fun.
The other truck is a beast but the gas milage is terrable...

I have a 92 SR5, stock with 31" BFG muds and I have never really felt a need to change anything. True, a locking differential would do wonders but it is not mandatory. You'll just be doing a fair amount of switching in and out of 4wd in slippery situations and steep hills or loose gravel. This isnt really a big deal though considering they have on the fly 4wd (very handy). As long as you have tires with some decent grip such as a mud tire you'll haul some ass off road, garunteed. Also a lift as with any truck would help for offroading but toyotas come stock with tons of clearance especially compared to any other stock SUV so as long as you arent doing any extreme 4x4ing or rock crawling you should be good to go. I've actually heard people complaining believe it or not that they are too high and hard to get into for a stock vehicle. Not sure about that... None the less, Enjoy!
