94 T4R transmission only works in second gear

Going to take a look at a 94 4runner this evening. According to the ad, the transmission only works in second. I am looking to pick the runner up as a project car and would be interested if anyone has had this problem before. Thanks!

It's a manual, have not been told what engine yet tho.

The gearbox is toast or the syncros are bad and not letting the spline shaft slide into place. If you can't get it into a gear then it's syncros
If you can get it into gear and its just not there, then the spline gear is wasted or there is so much slop it won't engage.
