95 3.0 rough shaking while lightly accelerating at low RPM

I just did a full tune-up - plugs, wires, cap, button. I also burned a bottle of fuel-injector cleaner on the last tank.

I have not yet lubed and checked the AFM.

I just started noticing a weird shaking or jumping that only happens at slow speeds and RPMs with slight throttle.

The shake is a fast forward and back feeling. The shake seems to make my foot shake on the pedal making the shake worsen.

For example, when I shift to second gear and hold the speed steady, the car starts to shake pretty hard. It only happens around 2000-2500 rpm when I hold the throttle steady or very slightly accelerate.

The shaking is not present at all while the clutch is pressed or if the vehicle in in neutral.

I can reproduce the feeling in third gear at similar RPMs and just enough throttle to keep it moving or accelerating slightly.

It does not happen when I am accelerating rapidly.

I do not think it was happening right after the tuneup ( 2 weeks ago)

Any ideas? Where to start?

I've only ever encountered that kind of shaking 2 different times... One was in a 1988 Toyota pickup truck, turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. Other time was in a 1989 Honda CRX, clutch was going south.

Sounds like a breathing problem to me.
Did you clean out the throttle body? It sounds like the butterfly is sticky.
But then again - it also sounds like a faulty O2 sensor

I am New to this forum and my 4runner is new to me... I bought it about 3 months ago for 800 bucks its a 90 3.0 w/ a 5speed 4x4. Been working out the problems i bought it with....

Just got it running good, did radiator water pump, power steering pump, timing belt... All was running fine till i did a tune up like the post above. I have the exact same problems. As he Describes, only thing to add is if i pop the hood and gently bring up the rpms it will start jumping and pulsating in neutral.

I know this is a old post but someone must of got the problem fixed by now? :ybrick:

I have never had this problem in a Toyota but I have had the same issue before in a Camaro I had. It turned out to be a broken motor mount. It would make sense that it only happens at certain RPMs.

Just a thought
