I've had this pig for a little less than a year and a half, spare time blown head gasket project. That apparently was the easy part, the hard part has been tracking down the culprits behind all the rear vibration issues. When I first got it on the road, it ran like a champ, slow I may add, but still ran good. But didn't feel safe driving it over 50 miles an hour. The thing felt like it would shake apart at speed, only used it for local driving. The two worst vibrations were caused by a bad rear tire and a loose flange nut coming off the transfer case. That significantly improved my driving experience, however it still felt unsafe at highway speeds. From there I dug into the rear driveshaft, had my local driveshaft shop check for balance and replaced the u-joints, apparently the
shaft had taken a wack at one point in time and was badly out of balance.
Next I pulled apart the rear end, both rear axle bearings have excessive play,
and the carrier has a bad pinion bearing! The carrier is in the shop getting rebuilt, axle shafts are being dropped off tomorrow for new bearings.
Man, I hope that's all, can't afford much more of this.
