***95 4runner v6 4x4 question***

i just got a really good deal on a 95 4runner from a buddy, it has 189k. 1 question, is it normal to hear a loud clank when turning on dry pavement in 4wd ? I never owned a 4x4 truck before so i have no idea. He never used it except in mud 1 time so he was shocked to hear the noise as well. We were just in the parking lot doing 1-5 mph. thanks guys.

You should really avoid driving and especially turning the wheel on dry pavement in 4WD. Hopefully the noise you heard was just a warning shot and not the sound of breakage.

dry pavement is a big no-no...otherwise, in 2 wheel drive a popping at the end of your radius can be normal, just the knuckles popping I believe...

I don't think popping knuckles in 2WD is normal.
