95 impressions and questions

hey all, I have a 95 limited, 30soSlow/auto., with178000. This is the weakest power to weight truck I have ever owned. The engine is in decent shape, aside from a pesky upper oil drip that keeps the engine saturated. The main thing is no power, I could not get the truck to do 70 pulling an empty 10 ft lawn trailer! Gas milage is low also, only16 mpg on the highway.

I would like to hear input on increasing power and mileage, an feedback from those who have done engine swaps. Would a 4.3 vortec (chevy) mate to the Yoda tranny? Tacoma V-6s?

I really would like to keep this truck for a while, but it needs to be my daily driver for another year or so, and I need to occasionally pull a trailer.

Yes, I've searched but evidently I'm not using the proper key words. "engine swap" produced 2 results, neither pertaining to engine swaps. I'm still learning how to`navigate this forum. Any help is appreciated.

btw, did you e-mail me? I have an unknown e-mail I'm hesitant to open.

no the forum sends you an email when someone replied to a thread you are subscribed to, and for some reason shows up as being unsafe. I have noticed the search does not work properly ie doesnt reveal all the result. i use google to search the forum and it works better.

thanks for the info. My next 2 weeks off I am doing a 2 inch lift, finding and fixing that pesky oil drip, and chasing down the battery/starter gremlins. Oh, and maybe give her a bath too. When I buy a daily driver, I am going to replace the 3o with something with some get up and go.
I used to have a 76 fj40 with a 327 set up, a chevota, wish I still had that crusher.
