95 land cruiser

So my cousin has a 95 land cruiser that has been sitting at his shop for years. It's finally time for it to go. I was wondering is there any parts I could take from it that would be worth having for my 99 4Runner. Maybe like a SAS down the road.

Sorry to be a newb and have to ask for help. But I've tried searching many times and just can't find the info I'm looking for.

Just take the whole thing. I owned a 93, 95, and 97 80 series. I love those vehicles. I've owned a couple 4runners but they don't compare to an 80 series. Heavy duty axles and front and rear lockers can't be touched.

for an sas, i would take both the front and rear axles, drive lines, transfercase and transmission, any linkages that connect the axles, the entire steering assembly and possibly brake assembly. take the springs as well, but leave the shocks, they are cheap and easy to come by. other than that, perhaps the ebrake from the inside. take any switches you want, espescially if it has lockers.

also I hear the cupholder is great in the landcruisers, pure luxury.

It's a 90's Toyota SUV - they are usually worth something. Assuming it is mostly complete, I would look into getting that thing running.

Take the whole thing, get it fixed up if needed, and see if you like it. I have an 80-series lexus after owning a couple 3rd gen 4runners. They are different creatures but pretty unstoppable off road (unless the trees are too tight) and also pretty well suited to the grocery store parking lot.

I wouldn't take it apart for your '99. You can buy parts from the junkyard if you need them. Keep a whole truck whole and sell it to a good home if you don't want to keep it yourself.

I know this one has been sitting for a few years. Probably can't get the title for it. So it can't be made legal. I do dig the 80 series though. I've been browsing Craig'slist

You mentioned its at your cousin's shop, I'm not sure how the laws are in your state but if i was you i would look into a mechanic's lien.

Research this thoroughly before you cut her up.

80 series axles are stout (3/4 ton equivalent), but the steering setup creates some challenges if using an 80 series front axle for a SAS. You'll either need aftermarket steering knuckles (hellfire) or a funky double-shear steering arm. The tie rod is behind and below the axle while the drag link is in front. Makes running leaf springs nearly impossible without said aftermarket knuckles.

Both the front and rear axles are passenger drop, so you'd need an older style truck/4runner tcase (makes double cases easier!). For the rear, you can run an offset rear axle with a center output t-case, you just might need a custom drive shaft.

Engine and transmission should both be worth a few bucks to the right cruiser-head. Lots of stuff to part out. If it was a lexus, I would buy the rear liftgate off of you.
