95 rear bumper upgrade

Aloha,

My rear bumper on my 1995 4Runner is rusted out completely. Does anyone know if you can replace the 95 with a newer model (say 1998/99)? I was told it changed after 95 but by how much? It looks nearly the same but not sure about the bolt set-up. I have the slot in my bumper for the spare tire access so was just going to put a hole in the updated model. Hard to get the older models out here in hawaii that are not rusted.

They don't interchange.
BUT, many like to upgrade the bumpers, and have the stock units for sale.
I have a friendly member here packing up his in CA to ship to me in PA. Price is right too. Check out this thread...

Thanks. I see that the brackets were different but was hoping the holes would match up...wishful thinking. Thanks for the thread.
