95 SR5 4cyl fuel injector question

Hi: I am a newbie to this forum and T4R's.
A friend has given me this vehicle.
It has a lot of rust, but I would like to have it running for the odd snow fall.
It has a dead cylinder that I have traced to a faulty injector.
It has no measurable resistance which is an open coil.
I measured a working one and it reads 14 ohms.
I don't want to spend a lot of money and have found reconditioned injectors on the net for about $50. I would assume when I take off the injector manifold I should replace all the "O" rings on all the injectors. I also saw a small screen on a web site, should that be replaced?
I have copied the manual from postings on this web site, however in reviewing the procedure I see reference to some components that I am not familiar with.
Is there information on this somewhere?
I did see reference to a Haynes manual, are they any good?

I'm not sure what that small screen is that you're talking about. You should replace all the o-rings along with the gasket for the upper and lower intake manifold.

If you're going to replace one injector, I would replace all of them. You're going to have one good flowing injector and 3 not so good ones. That will allow one cylinder to run either rich or lean and then you'll have issues. For about $200 you can get a basically new set of flow matched injectors from LCE Performance.

Also put vaseline on the o-rings before putting them in to avoid tearing and it also helps them seal.

Can you detail the issues with a different injector.
Keep in mind I do not want to spend much on this vehicle.
I have found used injectors on ebay for $15 - $20?

4runnerBrett: Vaseline sounds like a good idea, the manual says lube with gasoline. I would not consider gasoline a lubricant.

A used injector is a crap shoot, at least get get 4 reconditioned ones if at all possible.
A factory service manual is much better than Haynes or Chilton.

I would just mail the injectors off to Witch hunter or RC for flow testing and balancing. They will supply you with new o-rings, grommets, pintles and screens for a very low price. If your one bad injector turns out to be unrepairable by them they will more than likely have one on hand that they will throw in for cheap.

I have to agree about the used injector, probably not the best idea.
I am leaning to buying a remanufactured GB for about $45.
So with new seals/o-ring and plenum gasket my cost will be about $70.
That I can handle.

Any gotcha's on parts removal and replacement.

Your injector clips are probably toast and will break when you remove them. You can buy these from LC Engineering.
