Are you going to rebuild the entire engine? If I just had a burnt valve I would remove the heads first, have them rebuilt (or rebuild it your self). Do you have bad compression?
If I were to do a complete tear down. I would
-clean the air intake manifold (Sand blast it out, or take it to a shop to have it ported and polished)
-replace water pump
-oil pump
-Have all sensors bench checked
-Get new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor,
-Check engine mounts, replace if necessary
-replace timing belt
-install all new gaskets and seals
I can think of alot you could do with the engine out and dissasembled. If you do a complete tear down replace all internal bearings, piston rings, etc.
There is a complete rebuild kit on ebay for about $245 come in standard to I believe .30 oversize.
Find a good machine shop.
