96 4Runner. A good deal?

Hello I'm new to the forum. I'm currently looking at 96 4Runner, it's got 165k on the clock. It's a 5 speed manual, in good condition. The timing belt and water pump have recently been changed. We are trying to get the dealer down to 3000-4000. Would this be a wise choice? It's been in an accident, vehicle was driven off the accident. It was hit on the left side, and the left side part of the frame, above the drivers side wheel had been replaced. That's the only thing I saw wrong. It had been VERY goodly repaired, I couldn't see a difference. It's all stock as well. The blue book value is 3200. It has also only had 1 owner. The accident was in 2001.

That's nice moderate mileage for an older 3rd gen, and a manual as well. The accident being so long ago, I wouldn't even worry about that part. What is the dealer asking if you're saying you're trying to get the dealer down to 3000-4000 if blue book is 3200. I'm going to guess they're asking about 6000 haha. I wouldn't be afraid of that truck as long as it isn't all rusty and appears to be well taken care of, but like you said, I'd aim for <4000 if possible. The dealer probably gave 2-3k on trade in for it if that's how they acquired it, and unless they're the ones who did the timing belt and stuff, then they probably don't have much invested in it. They typically don't have to because 4Runners sell themselves. Good luck with it.

Yes they are wanting 6500. 96 just seems so old to me.

6K is WAY too much for that year/miles.

PM Me. I just went through buying a 4Runner in Utah. There are quite a few things that I learned & info that I have that would definitely help you. Also there are a few people around Utah that would be willing to glance at it for you & give their 2 cents.
