96-98 Grille Assembly Fit on 99-02??

Does anybody know if the early 1996-1998 grille assemblies will fit on the later 1999-2002 bodies? Thank you!

I really appreciate the quick response. I built a satoshi grille for a 99 limited owner using a 96 assembly. I mailed it to him and he said he wasn't able to install it because it didn't fit. I haven't heard anything about that so I'm extremely caught off guard and having a hard time believing him. Everything I've seen online says that they are all interchangeable.

That's exactly the answer I am looking for. Did you get it from Parts Geek? do you by chance remember specifically which year assembly you bought? Now that I think about it, everyone buys the older assemblies to do the grille mod because you cant really do it with any of the newer assemblies.

im not sure what year assembly i purchased, but i know for sure that they're all interchangeable. I wonder why he can't get it in :/

Yep, he just needs to trim/shape the pegs on the aftermarket 96 grill.

Not hard and if he had a brain, he would spend the 1 minute to trim them rather than wasting everyones time. good luck

I've built 25+ grilles for people. I always use aftermarket grilled from partsgeek or rockauto. It will fit. I have heard from some people that the tabs need to be trimmed a bit to fit. The grilles have a more round peg that needs to fit into a square hole. Either use a razor blade or dremel to knock some off the peg.

Don't let him tell you it won't fit. I've never had anyone try to return one because it doesn't fit...

This guy is trying to rip you off for the grill and the money. I have never heard of any company ever sending money back to someone on a return and then having the merchandise sent back and it working out for both parties.

the 01-02 grill sticks out forward more but they are both cross compatible, if it doesnt fit that means his front clip is messed up and thats not your fault. as far as having to modify the clips, thats just a reality of any body panel, it needs to be fitted theg dont always simply bolt up. sometimes they require a bit of persuasion.

I had a customer once who wanted me to ship them the item and then pay me, he called it cash on delivery. the problem with that is there is no guarantee that he will pay so i just ignored him.

Sounds about right. Everyone has been a great help. I knew from the beginning something on his end wasn't right but I really needed the confidence to be able to defend what I shipped out to him and know the problem was on his side. He's being persistent that the holes don't line up. Guess I'll just wait and see if he mails it back, check for damage and cut him a check back if it comes back unharmed. Just gonna have to find a new lucky, rightful owner
