96 Black Limited 4WD 4runner

I am an 18 yr old senior from Arkansas and I'm new to this forum. I have been coming up with a sort of "dream truck" and I want to make my 4runner the truck I want to have. I have a part time job and I have been coming up with a list of things I want to do to my limited 4WD black 4runner. I'm not a truck junkie like my dad, but I am looking to put about a 33 inch tire on a 17 inch wheel and I know that I'll have to get it lifted. I'm sort of on a budget, so I was wondering what the best way to go about this plan would be. Thanks!

What's your budget? Cheapest, as mentioned above, would be a spacer lift. Find some used 17" rims (like Tundra rims), add wheel spacers depending on the offset of the rim, find used tires or wait for a deal on new tires. You'll prob have to do some cutting of the flares to prevent rubbing. 33's are pretty big.

Ok. But is there anyway that a 33 could fit on it with a 3 inch lift? Or would I still need to adjust the flares like you said? My budget will probably be around 300 depending on what I find. Like I said, I'm not big with the technology and stuff, but I'm starting to get serious about rigging it up how I want it. My dad and I have talked about taking the steps off of and getting it lifted before we do the tires. But we want to find everything we're looking for and go from there.

3 inch lift is generally what people need to fit 285/75 with rubbing. check my sig for my lift details. a lift around 300$ is OME 890 with lc coils in the rear. maybe ad a 1 inch BL if you don't want as much rubbing and don't have access to tools to stop the rubbing. My lift is around 300$. that's for a DIYer and you put the lift on yourself. Then my tires were 750$, NOT INCLUDING MOUNT/BALANCE/ALLIGNMENT. A 3 inch lift without new tires will look weird. I'd save up 1200$ and do it all at once.

Yes, I run 33" all terrains. But there are many different 33" tires. Mine are not wide. They like regular tire with some meet. Some people run wheel spacers. Im running mine regular and I have a quater inch gab from upper control arm to the tire. But when I turn the wheel ALL the way then it rubs. So you just be cautious when turning. Try not to turn to much and stuff.
