'96 ignition wiring diagram

Hi there,

I am trying to remove an aftermarket alarm system from my 4Runner but just can't seem to find the ignition wire. The instructions for the removal of the alarm system say that there are "two large wires" exiting the module and "splice into the ignition wire". I just can't find the ignition wire/wires How many ignition wires are there, anyway.

Follow the link to the album so you can see what I am doing. Also the "two large wires" phrase is confusing as all the wires exiting the module are of the same size (IMO).

No one replied to this post and i cant start a new topic until i have enough replies.

My problem is that my '96 was stolen and the ignition was hacked. I have wiring diagrams from two different sources and neither indicates the articulation of the two positive feeds (white and red/white).
Also, neither diagram shows the blue/red wire(???)
I crosschecked schematics from from '95 and '97 to no good result.

My examination of the ignition switch remains seem to indicate that one circuit is opened when the starter is closed. Is this correct?

A few things to help you get help.

Can you please clarify what you mean by articulation of the feeds?

What engine and transmission do you have, and is your car a California car?

Also, a 95 is a second gen, so cross referencing against that won't tell you anything.

Its an Oregon vehicle, 4 cyl engine, manual trans.

i installed a GPS tracker for security and am now going to connect toggle switches and a start button to replace my hacked ignition switch/harness.

my first post was a bit mis-informed. I did finally find a schematic that included the blue/red wire.

My rig is a '96 but the wires in the ignition switch harness match the '95 schematic. In other words, my ignition switch harness has six wires, the 1996 schematic has five wires, the difference being the blue/red.

What I meant by "articulation" is me trying to ask what circuits are opened and closed as the switch turns. The switch has four positions: Off, Acc, On, and Start.
There are two separate positive leads from the battery do they stay separated as the switch turns?
The schematics do not indicate. Nor do they indicate which lead powers which circuits.

Does one of the circuits that is closed in the On position need to be open in the Start position?

Hopefully someone with the wiring diagrams for the 96 can help. All I have are the diagrams for the 2000 which don't seem to match.
