'96 Uneven stance?

I recently lifted my 4Runner using a set of LC front coils on the rear and top plate spacers on the front. Ever since, I have been sitting really low on the driver side. I double checked the LC coils to make sure I put them on the right sides and they are. I bought a set of used front 4runner coils and shocks already set up with the top plate spacers. Does it matter which side they go on? could that be why it sits funny? I couldn't find any marking or anything to tell me which ones went on which side so I figured it wouldn't matter. Is there anything else anyone can think of why it would so much lower on one side?

My front springs are side-specific. The driver-side is a little taller than the passenger-side to account for the weight of the gas tank that is also on the drivers-side. Check to see if you can find any paint markings, you may have to rub off grime and dirt to see the markings. Sounds like you do need to swap sides. Do you have any measurements? How bad is the stance? The front springs can account for an inch or two.

It's horrible. He's driving around Utah scraping his driver's side mirror on the pavement, utterly pathetic. It's embarassing, is what it is...

Yah like Kid said! It is pretty bad. I will try a little harder to find some markings or just swap sides. It can't get any worse than it is.

Maybe if I had my springs on the correct side I could have made it through that rock garden huh Kevin?!!? :lol:

If your springs had been on the correct side you would have done more than kiss the passenger door on that rock, though... :lmao:

No argument there, I suck! But it should be noted that it was your lead foot and not my spotting that sent you into that rock.

Im pretty sure the fronts are not side specific, only the rears.

That's what I thought but I can't figure out why it's sits like it does.

Is it leaning in the front or in the rear? I'm no scientist but I think that would give you a good indication on where to start looking. Fronts are not side specific but since you bought them used and assembled, look them over good:
Is the spring seated properly on the perch.
Is the top plate sitting flush in the shock tower.
Are the spacers the same size.

Shouldn't be too tough to figure out.

I'll second that. My wife was very concerned when she first saw it, but at least your truck runs consistently!

Didn't you swap the spring positions before?

yah I switched the rear ones thinking maybe I put them on backwards but it made it worse and I varified the color codes and they had previosly been on right. I figure if I change the front either it will fix the problem or make it lower on the other side. If it makes it lower on the other side I know the problem is in the shocks. Which were almost new when I put them on. I did check the spacers and they are the same size and every thing is put together right. just not sitting flat, and driving me crazy.

Its leaning both front and rear. I know in the rear right now I have the coils on backwards. I havent had a chance to switch them back. but it leaned before just not as bad. The front seems worse now almost like it keeps getting worse.

For sure. The problem is I've had the runner for 11 years and it didn't lean til I lifted it. And it leans A LOT!!

did you check the coils for length difference b4 you put it in?

Use a trim packer or even a spacer to level it out in the rear.

I thought I did on the front but don't remember what I found and I did on the rear and the one slightly long went on the driver side.

The fronts are side specific. Swap them and see if that helps. Oh and top plate spacers are probably the worst way to lift you truck. I would get something different ASAP.

Thanks steeze. I am aware that it is a VERY POOR method for lifting. It is temporary until I gather all the parts for my SAS. and in the mean time the plan is to run til it brakes then upgrade.
